First Loaded Weekend in College Hoops

First loaded Saturday of hoops is here!

There are always games. That is one of the best parts about the college basketball season, and sometimes we take that for granted. With the college football season now officially in bowl season, that means more free time on Saturday to watch college hoops. While we all enjoy a Monday night double header, nothing quite beats a full day of action on the hardwood. Sleep in a little bit, turn on GameDay, and then watch college hoops for twelve straight hours on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, CBS, the SEC network, the YES network. This is one of those Saturdays!

December 19th is the first really good hoops Saturday of the 2015-16 season. We have two quality neutral court doubleheaders, a top 10ish match up in Virginia, and at least 10 watchable fixtures to get you through 12 hours of the day. Now that college football takes a back seat and final exams should be wrapped up, it is time for some college hoops!

Sunday was a must win game for the Bills, and they handled their business. This win was sparked by the return of a couple of starters who missed the last game versus the Jaguars. Tyrod Taylor, Sammy Watkins, and Karlos Williams all played a huge role in getting the Bills back to .500.

The Toronto Blue Jays have not won a playoff home game since 1993. That all changed tonight. The people of Toronto witnessed history tonight as their Jays came back from a 3-2 hole and overcame one of the craziest plays anyone has seen. The Rangers got Cole Hamels for a game like this, and he came through until his defense let him down.

College Football Review: Week 4

We are a month into the season and five weeks away from the first College Football Playoff ranking. It’s a good thing because as of right now there are many teams that believe they are a top four team. We witnessed many top tier programs handling their business against lesser opponents while schools such as TCU were taken to the brink and barely survived. We got to watch a Heisman hopeful widen the gap from his opponents and we got to see Karl Malone still use a flip phone.

The current top two schools in the country, Ohio State and Michigan State took care of business with 38-12 and 30-10 victories. The Big Ten is definitely representing themselves well right now. TCU and Trevone Boykin escaped a close one against in state rival Texas Tech on a fourth down tipped reception for the game winning touchdown with under 30 seconds remaining. UCLA went on the road to take on Arizona and took care of business with a 56-30 victory. Number 17 Northwestern remained undefeated after a 24-19 victory over Ball State and number 18 Utah put a whooping on number 13 Oregon. Are we witnessing the fall of the Ducks?

The 6’0″ junior from Philadelphia, PA is on pace for over 1,500 receiving yards and 20 plus touchdowns. Through three games, Fuller has 18 receptions for 397 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Hard Foul Pick ‘Em: Week 2

Week 1 is in the books, and the Hard Foul Staff looked like this with their predictions:

Brian Wolf led the way with 13 correctly picked winners.

Angela Nicholas, Evan Sally, Matt Haring, and Steve Stich had 11 correctly picked winners.

Scott Goodwin and Cruz Serrano knotted 10 winners a piece.

Rounding out the group was Jim Bearor, Zack El-Sharif, and Mike Tolsma with 8 winners.

This week, the gang does this one a little different. This is the style we intend to use the rest of the way. The staff decided on 4 big games and will be picking those, with the inclusion of Adam Bennett (HFSCleveland) as well.

College Football: Week Two Preview

Week One came and went for college football. We saw Stanford go down on the road to Northwestern, BYU victorious on a Hail Mary from their backup quarterback, Chad Kelly played well against UT-Martin, and the defending national champions played alright against the only team that defeated them last season in Virginia Tech.

This weekend, we already have a game with playoff implications, power teams trying to regain elite status, and of course some unexpected oddities. It’s the early weeks like this one that often blow up the script and that is why we watch!

There is nothing like a quarterback battle to kick off training camp. It brings out the best in players. The repetitions, the rivalry, the competition. There are five teams with interesting story lines surrounding the quarterback position. Two teams have battles going on, while the other three have signal callers on the hot seat.

The Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans have battles going on right now. Rex Ryan has gone as far as to not name an opening week starter until the game, while the Texans have two QBs who will most likely not be a starter for the long term. Of all the QB situations, the Bills may have the best situation for success. All you need to do is look at the playmakers around the position including the additions of LeSean McCoy, Percy Harvin, and Charles Clay. Whoever has the reins for Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts will have one simple task: manage the game and limit turnovers. Many believe Matt Cassel has the fast track lead to be the starter as the 33 year old is the perfect fit for the Bills current situation. Opposing defenses will know what they are going up against, as Cassel will not surprise anyone with his arm strength or accuracy. With new offensive coordinator, Greg Roman, look for the Bills to bring a rush heavy attack. While EJ Manuel may be more athletic, he is prone to mistakes, and Tyrod Taylor is more of an unknown at this time.
