I’m a simple man, so when it comes to defining what I’m thankful for in the sports world the answer is simple: I like it all. But there are a few things that stand out: Continue reading

8 games down, 8 games to go. We’ve reached the halfway point of the Bills season and at 4-4 the Bills haven’t eliminated themselves quite yet from the playoffs. However they can only lose two more times to reasonably expect to make the postseason, a very small margin of error. A 6-2 record down the stretch would be the Bills best run of play since 2004. Is this the Bills team that finally gets hot and makes history? Let’s take a look at where each side of the ball stands and where the Bills sit in the AFC playoff picture at this point of the season. Greg Roman and The Superstitious Buffalo Bills

The firing of Greg Roman was shocking. To fire the offensive coordinator 2 games (and 5 days) into a season only one year after he cobbled together the 12th ranked scoring offense in the league is the kind of move nobody sees coming. Any time something like this happens there is always going to be a ton of questions. Questions like:

Whose call was this?

What did Roman do to merit his dismissal?

Is Rex’s firing not far behind?

In the recent days since this bombshell news dropped, we’ve gotten different answers to these questions that offer differing levels of satisfaction for fans. But there’s a question I want answered that there hasn’t been as much focus on.

What’s the point? Continue reading

The Bills Are All Style and No Substance in an Indefensible Loss to the Jets

The Bills offense was empty calories while the Jets were a wholesome meal.

The 3 best plays of the game belonged to the Bills; Tyrod’s two long throws and Robey-Coleman’s fumble return for a touchdown. The problem is that the next 20 plays on the list belong to the Jets. The Bills for all of their big plays lacked consistency of quality from play to play and drive to drive. The big plays kept them alive and provided the crowd with a thrill. But they were sandwiched in between 3 and outs and complete defensive breakdowns. While the Jets, despite dealing with their disaster plays, never stopped producing, carving up the Bills secondary consistently. Continue reading

Jon Ramsey

Welcome to my first ever NFL picks column.  One of my favorite reads each week was when my favorite writers would pick every NFL game and give their reasons for doing so.  My basic philosophy in making picks is to look at the quarterbacks, the head coaches and the pass rush in that order.  So, if you are a bad QB with a bad head coach with a crap pass rush, I’m not going to pick you. Finally, remember when reading my picks that Vegas wasn’t built by winners, so obviously don’t bet all your money on my picks… just bet some of it (no not really). Hopefully, you will enjoy reading my picks each week as much as I enjoy making them.
