Happy Thanksgiving everyone as we give thanks that the election is over and that playoff football is just around the corner.  Call this week the leftover week because leftovers are my favorite and I love favorites this week.  If you are into teasers, there is a lot of money to be made.  But if that isn’t your jam, just stick to mashed potatoes and gravy and wolf down my picks! Time for my week 11 picks, I had my bye week last week and come into late November well rested for a playoff run.  There are a couple “go against the public” picks this week that I really like, along with an easy blowout.  Consider this week’s column my gift to you, to make some money for all that shopping coming up.  On to the picks! Midway point of the season and I figured it was a good time to give out some midseason awards.  The awards have been voted on by an esteemed panel of judges (me) and the award winners will get absolutely nothing. But on the other hand it is my column and I can write about whatever I want. Continue reading

Don’t call it a comeback… but yes that is a winning record you see for last week. I am sorry for losing money for everyone that had been fading my picks.  But you know what they say about karma.  I hate how the NFL only has 2 late afternoon games this week. There is no reason to have a 9am London game and 6 teams on byes during the same week.  Speaking of byes, why doesn’t the NFL just give every division their own bye week and then have them play each other the week after the bye? Then nobody gets an unfair advantage and it is easy for people to remember.  Of course, we are talking about the NFL and common sense here, my bad.  On a good note for Roger, in a very scientific poll I did on Twitter (@yardsperpass) people thought that Gary Bettman was worse than him. Congrats Roger, you don’t suck the most! On that high note… let’s get to the picks!

NFL Week 6 Spread Picks

Welcome to week 6 of my Friday picks column or as the kids call it these days, bet the opposite and make a lot of money.  Generally speaking, if you flip a coin you should be about 50% on picks vs the spread.  I, however, have shown that with a little bit of effort you can be 15 games under .500 in only 5 weeks, a sparkling 40% win rate.  However, that is before I started playing for real… I have decided to give 110% in my picks this week and guarantee a winning record or your money back. Where else can you get a deal like that?  On to the picks!

NFL Week 5 Spread Picks

We are a quarter of the way home as Week 5 begins and we can start to see who the surprise teams are (Minnesota, Philly) and who the disappointments are (Carolina, Arizona).  Matt Ryan, is suddenly looking like an MVP, while Cam Newton is getting hit so much he might not make it through the season.  Top 5 picks Ezekiel Elliott and Carson Wentz are looking like draft pick hits, while 1st overall pick Jared Goff still hasn’t even seen the field.  Also some early season questions can begin to get answered.  All of Buffalo wants to know if the Bills will keep up their 2 game winning streak or will the 7-9 forever Rams improve to 4-1?  I want to know if teams will keep returning kickoff from 6 yards deep in the endzone to the 15-yard line instead of taking a knee and getting it at the 25? Finally, logic wants to know when two overmatched coaches named Chuck Pagano and Jim Caldwell will get fired?  Enough of the questions, now onto the answers and my picks. Continue reading

NFL Week 4 Spread Picks

It is Week 4 and things are starting shake themselves out as to who the good teams are and who the bad teams are.  I think we can safely say that the Browns, Jags and Bears will be picking in the top 5 of next year’s draft. While the Vikings and Eagles are looking like the “came out of nowhere good teams.” The Vikings have a tough test on Monday night and the Eagles have a week off to bask in their blowout win of the Steelers. Who would have guessed that New England would be a dominant 3-0 even though Jacoby Brissett has played 50% of their games. Finally, are we seeing the end of the “bell cow” running back, as player in the NFL has over 300 yards rushing through 3 games?  For comparison there are 6 players with 300 + yards receiving and 1 with 400+ (Marvin Jones).  Myself, I am looking to bounce back after a tough week 3, but I blame the fact that I am been enjoying pumpkin beer too much… anyways, just bet the opposite and makes some money!  On to the picks. Welcome to week 3 of my Friday picks column, I had my first winning record last week and nailed my best bet and hope to keep up the momentum this week, because as you know… my picks have such an impact on the games.  The story of the year so far have been the rookie QB’s Wentz and Prescott have both been quite solid. Meanwhile the #1 overall pick Jared Goff can’t even sniff the field due to the Rams being worried that he can even say the play call.  Which makes me think, if the quarterback is so important in this league, why not make your system as QB-friendly as possible?  Obviously, easy for me to say in my chair, but if you use last night’s game as an example (one that I lost) the greatest coach of our generation made things easy on his QB and was rewarded with a safe effective performance that turned into a 27 point win.  That Belichick guy might know something… just don’t ask him about fashion or videotaping, or ball inflating, or…. anyways… lets get to the picks.
