For Peyton Manning It’s Always Been About Control

Peyton Manning is a living legend, he’s had a storybook career and on Super Bowl Sunday he might be able to write his own ending. Peyton has always been in control whether it’s at the line of scrimmage or during that crazy off-season where the Colts decided to cut him because they were in position to draft Andrew Luck. That summer of 2011 Peyton controlled the attention of the NFL, and virtually every team wanted Peyton. From Arizona all the way to Minnesota the reports about him going to a team were wild and full of speculation, the only person that knew where Peyton was going was Peyton. This is a rare circumstance due to the fact that it seems like NFL front offices control every move of the players. Normally a team wouldn’t bother signing a normal 36 year old quarterback, especially one that just missed a full season due to neck surgery, but luckily for Peyton he was never normal. Peyton was a QB that had 11 seasons of 4,000 plus yard passing seasons, 399 passing touchdowns and 4 time MVP. Continue reading

Sharif’s Quick Shots

– Zack El-Sharif

Week 2, where the survival pools thin out, and fantasy owners panic. The Bills are 1-1 after a very anticlimactic game versus the Patriots. All the hype and excitement for the game faded away right around 1:30 Eastern Time. The Bills came out strong and then went into complete self destruction mode. I have some thoughts on that and other things that happened around the NFL this week.

Week One for the Bills and the rest of the NFL is in the books. Here’s everything you need to know about the first weekend of football.

3 Things That Stood Out About the Bills:

1) Karlos Williams looked good. First time the kid touches the ball he scores on a great run. He also looked like he knew what he was doing, as he would be at a stalemate at the line and he would just lower his helmet and get extra yards every time. It was incredible to see a 5th round pick do that. It makes it harder to miss Fred Jackson when you see a guy perform like that. A great find by Doug Whaley.

Hope: A 2015 Bills Preview

This past year has been rather eventful for Bills fans. This time last year I was sitting at training camp watching a guy carry a sign around that said “Please save our team Mr. and Mrs. Pegula”. Some thought that the man was annoying but he was just saying what all of us were praying for. As we all know the Pegulas bought the Bills and the franchise was no longer living on a prayer. The excitement of keeping our team transferred into the 2014 regular season. It was the first time in 10 seasons the team finished with an above .500 record. The team missed the playoffs for the 15th straight season, but they looked like they were moving in the right direction. A couple days after the end of the season starting QB Kyle Orton announced his retirement. Then on the final day of 2014, Doug Marrone opted out of his contract as the coach of the Bills. At the time the news of Doug Marrone leaving was shocking. However soon after we calmed down and the fan base was relieved that he left.   Continue reading

Buffalo’s Finest

We are a month away from the first Bills preseason game, so I’m itching to talk Buffalo Bills as is any other Bills fan. I could talk about the negatives, like Aaron Kromer or another season with a question mark at quarterback. I could also talk about the headlines, like Rex Ryan jumping out of a plane, or the Rolling Stones playing at Ralph Wilson Stadium this past weekend. Instead I wanted to talk about something that fans could generally discuss and maybe even reminisce upon. So I bring to you my all-time Buffalo Bills roster. There’s some obvious ones of course but there’s always going to be someone who thinks so and so should be on the list. I didn’t put in a fullback because I had to have 2 RBs out of respect, so quick shout out to Darien Barnes. This list is based on the player’s years with the Bills only. Continue reading

Beanpot Meltdown: What the Hell is Going on in Boston?

The Red Sox are an AL worst, 29-39 and have had a flurry of activity around the team recently. This week the Red Sox starting 3rd baseman Pablo Sandoval was benched for liking some Instagram posts mid-game. When asked by it by the media Sandoval simply stated that he “did it while he was in the bathroom”. Even more interesting, during a recent media encounter the face of the franchise David Ortiz was asked if he would be willing to waive his trade clause. He responded by saying, “No chance, this is the team I’ll be with for the rest of my career”. Which is a good thing if you’re a Red Sox fan, but how did it get to his point? 2 years removed from your 3rd World Series since breaking the curse and you have a 100 million dollar player on the john playing with his phone and now reporters are insinuating that the player that’s been the face of your franchise for the past 11 years wants out of town. In the words of the great Vince Lombardi, “What the hell’s going on out there?!”

NHL and NBA Staff Pick ‘Em

– The Hard Foul Sports Team

NHL Picks
Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Mike Tolsma

search

This has the potential to steal the show of the two final series in the NHL and NBA. That’s right, the NHL actually may be able to steal the show. Now, granted there won’t be any dueling television nights, but the bottom line is this series will have sports fans buzzing. The Hawks have the star power. We all know what Toews and Kane brings on the front end and what Keith and Seabrook will provide the back end. Look for Patrick Sharp to try and continue to raise his trade stock (the Hawks are in serious cap trouble come this offseason) and Marian Hossa to show he still has gas left in the tank. Tampa is extremely skilled, but if Steven Stamkos doesn’t show up for a game or two, you are now relying on too much youth and inexperience to lead this team.

Who wins: Chicago in 6 Continue reading
